Weekly Re-Up: Rap “Game Of Thones”, Rick Ross Flops & MorePosted by Lucas G. on 03/07/14 | Filed under Humor, Fails, General Awesomness |

Listen, it's Friday, we get it. Nobody really wants to do anything that involves using your brain. So the new "Weekly Re-Up" will provide you with both the biggest "Fails" and the most awesome "General Awesomeness", as well as some other must see shit from the week, and of course some boobs. We will also be including a "Weekend Soundtrack" selection to give you something to listen to this weekend. It's a whole lot of everything.
Now let's get started...
General Awesomeness:
Rap Game Of Thrones:
Look, if you are sick of all the Game Of Thrones hype, then you probably don't watch Game Of Thrones and I don't much care about you. So complain and I'll bitch slap you like Tyrian did Joffrey (of course You won't get the reference because you don;t watch the show). Also, with less than a month until the season premiere, it's safe to say the buzz is only going to get bigger and bigger, so get used to it. I didn't think I could get anymore excited, and then I heard there will be a Game Of Thrones mixtape. This isn't some half-assed, Migos, Datpiff tape with some MS Paint Game Of Thrones artwork this is a HBO sponsored, FREE project with some big names attached. Check out the tracklist Catch The Throne below (via HiphopDX)
Game of Thrones has announced its Catch The Throne mixtape, which is set to be available on March 11. The project is slated to feature Wale, Common, Snow Tha Product and Big Boi, among others, on original songs inspired by the HBO series.
1. Big Boi - "Mother of Dragons"
2. Magazeen - "Iron Throne"
3. Bodega Bamz - "Win or Die"
4. Kilo Kish - "Magical Reality"
5. Daddy Yankee - "Born to Rule"
6. Dominik Omega - "Arya's Prayer"
7. Snow - "Fire"
8. Dee Goodz - "The Parallel"
9. Common - "Interlude/The Ladder"
10. Wale - "King Slayer"
Even if you aren't a GoT addict, hearing Big Boi on a track titled "Mother Of Dragons" is awesome in it's own right. If you are a Game Of Thrones addict than you know it will be absolutely fucking epic. I gotta give props to HBO, aside from Daddy Yankee (he's still around?!) this is a pretty solid list for a promo tape. Wale, Big Boi and Common? That's pretty fucking cool. Just thinking about the endless possibilities makes both the TV and rap nerd in me giddy. Who is going to drop a Hodor reference ("put the game on my back like Hodor")? Or, better yet, sample the famous Hodor call? Who is going to sample the theme song? Personally, I think Wale could kill it; that kind of thing is right in his lane. It might be corporate and mainstream, but damnit I'm excited! Winter is finally coming!!!! Oh yeah, and don't forget where you first saw Game Of Thrones get rapified.
Priceless:
While I'm not exactly Jay Z rich, I'm fortunate enough to never have to worry about where my next meal is coming from or having to save each and every dollar. I stress about money all the time, but in reality, I really have no idea what it's like to be faced with true money woes; not many of us do. You always hear people say "man, I'm broke as shit" but usually broke means, "I can't really afford to buy that extra beer" not "I'm 100% broke and living on the street." Our society is so money driven we often forget abotu those who truly need it. Well, this dude, who makes pretty cool YouTube videos, didn't forget, and he did something really fucking amazing for a homeless man.
Man, it's hard to type with all this dust in my eyes. If this video doesn't make you feel all the feelings, than I genuinely feel bad for you. For all the shitty stuff people do on a daily basis, it's always nice to have a reminder that for every asshole, there are thousands of good people who will do something like this. The fact the homeless guy wanted to split the money was just as incredible. Here you have a guy who is literally living on the street and is given $1,000 and his first, gut reaction is to give some to the guy who gave him the ticket; it sounds hokey to say, but some things are more than just money. I always try to give when I can because in reality a dollar here and there means nothing to me and it means a whole lot more to the person I give it to. Still, although I'll buy somebody something at 7-11 or a burrito at Chipotle, I'll admit that I am hesitant to give any more than a few dollars, but after seeing this, I will definitely be more inclined to slip someone that 10-spot. Sometimes, it's not the money, but someone just giving a shit, that can make all the difference. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go find out who is cutting onions on my computer.
P.S.- If you are feeling inspired, you can donate right to Eric, the man in the video, here.

Fails Of The Week
Rick Loss:
Man, Ricky, you have been really moving up in my book. Why did you have to go and have a week like this one? Things were going so good..up until you decided that now, after all those years straight up lying, you share your past as a Correctional Officer. Look, I could care less that he was a correctional officer, after all, Wing Stop can get expensive (especially when you eat 500 wings per visit), but what pisses me off is that he lied about for so long. While he did avoid a high school-like instagram battle with 50 cent, any brownie points (not literal brownies of course) were used up when he performed "Nobody" on Late Night With Seth Myers.
First off, the biggest fail is getting French Montana on the song in the first place. This had the potential to be one of the best songs from the album but French Montana ruins it with the hook. I love that beat, especially with the live band, but French standing there with his dumbass plated beanie nasaly droning on the hook ruins it. Now normally French would be the worst part, up until Ricky completely botches the 2nd verse. After fumbling one line, he does a little arm airplane dance to save face, and just when you think he might have recovered, the performance slips right through his buffalo sauce covered hands and he more or less gives up. You know if French Montana is bailing you out, you are in trouble.
I think the worst part of it all (aside form his utterly useless hypeman) is that Rick proceeds to act like a bawse after, stunting with his endangered animal fur lined coat, like nothing happened. C'mon after that abysmal performance you could at least act a little humble. This kind of shenanigans reminds me why I hated Ross in the first place. We were doing so good Rick and you go crush our new bond like a Ho-Ho in your back pocket.
My Mayor:
We make a lot of fun of Rob Ford here at RefinedHype; nobody makes my job easier than him. I mean every week he does something that is Re-Up worthy and usually it's a fail. It might seem hypocritical, but seeing Ford get made fun of to his face by Jimmy Kimmel really irked me. Poor Rob Ford has to just stand their on national TV and take the embarrassment, and turns bright red because of it. Now I have grilled him for many of the videos you saw in that clip, but it feels just straight up mean of Kimmel. Like, Rob Ford is ours to make fun of, we love him, but we make fun of him. You can't just go around shitting on him and not have me get mad; I feel protective of him. He's like that friend in your group who everybody makes fun of but the moment somebody else makes fun of him it's totally not cool. Jimmy Kimmel is just being a bully and I don't like it one bit. But wait there's more.
Worst Of The Rest:

Weekend Soundtrack:
Krizzle was busy this week with #WeekofKirt, I mean a new K.R.I.T song everyday for a week? What more could you need? Even K.R.I.T can make Rick Ross and ASAP Ferg tolerable! Sure some new cuts are great, but the real success of #WeekofKirt was a reminder that I haven't gone on a Return of 4eva binge recently. So this weekend, it'll be all K.R.I.T all the time and that's just fine with me. One of the most legendary mixtapes ever.
Comment Of The Week:
Normally I only pick one comment, but I just couldn't do it this week. The WHOLE comment section on the Schoolboy SXSW arrest piece was doper than Schoolboy watching Scarface. We had everyone from fans who were there to DJ's and other acts recounting the event like it was fucking hip-hop Clue or some shit. So fucking cool to see people get connected like that. Even 2DopeBoyz got in on the fun.
