Weekly Re-Up: Dr. Dre Makes A Billion, Tyga is All The Fails & MorePosted by Lucas G. on 05/09/14 | Filed under Top Stories, Weekly Re-Up, General Awesomeness, Fails Of the Week |

Listen, it's Friday, we get it. Nobody really wants to do anything that involves using your brain. So the new "Weekly Re-Up" will provide you with both the biggest "Fails" and the most awesome "General Awesomeness", as well as some other must see shit from the week, and of course some boobs. We will also be including a "Weekend Soundtrack" selection to give you something to listen to this weekend. It's a whole lot of everything.
General Awesomeness:
Kanye is Human!
Kanye may be my favorite rapper, but let's be honest, he's kind of dick. There's a reason he made the list of emcees to fight; even I've wanted to smack him once or twice (out of love of course). Hey, after the scuffles with papparazzi, crazy ass rants, and getting hit in the head with signs, you would probably be a dick too. I can't imagine getting harassed every time I step into public and its no wonder Kanye is always grumpy. So, when I saw this video of a fan wanting to rap for him, as TMZ pummels him too, I thought it might end badly. Think about how many people want to rap for you, or give you their demo, and add that to that frustration of the paparazzi harassing you anytime you take a step outside of your home.
I thought Kanye might lose it, but nope. "Flashing Lights" everywhere, Kanye lets the kid walk alongside and rap and even takes extra time to stand outside the door as the kid raps (probably making his dream come true) and he handles it like a champ. No matter how crazy he may be, I think Kanye still knows his fans matter, and it's nice to know.
A Billi A Billi
Well, we have it folks, hip-hop's first billionaire; and it's not Diddy or Jay. I would have put my money on Jay Z, but (kind of) out of nowhere, Dre reaches the milestone first. You may have heard of these things called "Beats"--you know those headphones that every athlete and teenager has that are good, but way overpriced-- well as of today, a little start-up company named Apple bought up Beats By Dre for a measly $3.2 billion. Obviously, after taxes and the other folks who get a slice of the billion dollar pie, Dre won't be a billionaire per se, but I will always consider him the first hip-hopper to reach the mark. Per Forbes:
A sale for $3.2 billion would nearly double the value of Dre’s holdings, though capital gains taxes could take a bite out of his big payday, likely leaving him with a net worth in the neighborhood of $800 million. It’s not quite enough to land on the Forbes 400, but it would easily make him hip-hop’s richest man, topping current champion Diddy by $100 million.
Look, "Detox" was never coming out anyway and this might be the nail in the coffin, but you still have to be happy for any emcee/entrepreneur who can get a billion dollars. Who would have thought in way back in 1973 that someday, somebody would make a billion dollars off hip-hop. Pretty cool to see how far we've come. Also, we have a video of Dre celebrating. Considering what I would do if I made a billion dollars, I'd say it's pretty tame. Congrats Dre. I'd say you earned it.

Fails Of The Week:
Normally we do two fails, and we still kind of are, but this week, they are both related. Rather than split them up, I thought it would be more fun to lay the whole thing out and pick apart each and every shitty part of this this epic fail. Want to know how bad it is? It all revolves around Tyga; told you it was bad.
Ugh. Another lame, fucking beef where two rappers go back and forth via social media. In one corner we have one of Refinedhype's least favorite, Tyga and in the other we have Lil Durk, which is also one of the worst rapper names since OJ Da Juiceman. Anyway it's a story you have heard seven billion times before, one rapper says something, the other feels like they have to respond on instagram or else they will be seen as soft (irony). Basically heres what happened. Durk dropped this preview of a Meek Mill remix (exciting I know) that shat on Tyga. You can watch it below, but wont be able to understand anything. The lyrics are
Heard Tyga sneak dissin’ on me, tell them thot bitches I’m not right
Tyga only got one name but that nigga ain’t got one stripe
He backpack, so easy to get that nigga’s shit snatched
Ask Marly Marl to give his shit back”
Well, now, with both another instagram post ( I can't get over rappers acting hard on fucking instagram) and the song with Game. Looks like Tyga ain't backing down; oh goodie.
Honestly, the only good thing to come out of this is the Game verse. As much as I hate Tyga and Durk, I'd hate to see anybody get shot over a fucking Instagram spat. Sad sate of humanity if that's the case. I think Tyga might want to stay out of the Chi for a minute.
But thats not all....
That "ChiRaq To LA" cut caught the eye of Washington Post sports reporter Mike Wise. For those that don't know, Mike Wise is the DC Area's Skip Bayless; pretty much everyone hates him. Anyway, After the Wizards, the feel good story of the playoffs, were celebrating beating one of the best teams in the East, they bumped the Game/Tyga tune in the locker room, where Mike Wise was. Well needless to say the grumpy old white dude didn't take too kindly to it and even thought the commissioner should sanction what grown men listen to in the locker room. Word to Deadspin for the tip.
Pacers' pre-game locker room is pounding gangsta rap with Tiger and the Game. Apparently the n-bomb debate is not happening in Indiana.
— Mike Wise (@MikeWiseguy) May 7, 2014
B--ch this, H- that. Nbombs. If I was Adam Silver, I would take a hard look at locker room music as part of a mutually respectful league.
— Mike Wise (@MikeWiseguy) May 7, 2014
Now a old white guy missing the mark on a hip-hop song doesn't shock me. What really pisses me off is that Mike Wise has been making a living covering the Redskins, a team with an egregiously racist name. How can this dude complain about the "Nbomb" after he has been writing "Redskins" for over a decade. Regardless, he's one of the last people in the world who gets to dictate what music grown men can and can't listen to in the locker room.
So there you have it, Tyga and Durk just fucking my weekend all up. Was really excited for the weeknd but after mapping this out, all I want to do is sulk. Yet another reason to hate Tyga...and Mike Wise.
