By now we should really all be familiar with the pattern. Kanye West acts like a complete d-bag, says some crazy shit, fucks a girl everyone's gossiping about, maybe yells at a sign if he's feeling particularly frisky, and just generally acts like a human being who in no way should be taken seriously. And then...he drops some next level music. It happened before "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", and it looks like it's happening again, only this time he impregnates a Kardashian even bigger. I mean, just looks at these "SNL" videos.

In fairness, it's hard to judge "New Slave" via a SNL performance. Watered down for television it sounds a little flat, but I'm betting that by the time this hits our eardrums in mastered form, the beat will bang just as hard as "N**gas in Paris" or "H.A.M.", and this sounds like the kind of lyrical content I was waiting for on "Watch the Throne". Just try to imagine this without him having to mumble through all the curses. Plus, you know, bonus points for the "Waterboy" reference.



And then there's this "Black Skinhead". If it weren't for "New Slaves" I'd be worried that Ye was going all punk rock-ish on the album, which although he could pull off, could easily descend into crap. But as it stands, it's another example of the angry and passionate West it looks like we'll be getting:



If this was anyone else I'd probably be writing some version of, "Oh, look at me, I'm so artsy and dangerous." But if anyone's earned the benefit of the doubt, it has to be Ye. Time and time again the man's had us worried about what direction he's headed in, and then when we hear that direction, you have to admit the man really is a genius. A d-bag genius, but a genius none the less.

It's official, all anyone's going to be talking about until June 18 is this "Yeezus" album, myself included.
