Today it was revealed, and by "revealed" I mean "leaked", that none other than the man with the biggest man boobs in the game would be adding his luxury rap stylings to the final album version of "Devil in a New Dress". Kanye, Pusha, CyHi, Big Sean & J. Cole are “Looking for Trouble” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/08/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, J. Cole, Big Sean, Good Friday, Pusha T, CyHi Da Prynce

in the midst of all my beat-making pondering, Ye went and dropped "Looking for Trouble", a record that's clearly intended to be first and foremost meant to showcase lyricism. Mission accomplished. Pusha T crushes his verse, Kanye comes through with some damn good punchlines and CyHi continues to impress. But it's the work of Big Sean and J. Cole that will have people talking. Production Breakdown: Kanye West’s “The Joy”

Posted by Richard on 11/05/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Features, Kanye West, Production Breakdown, Pete Rock

“This beat deserves Hennessy, a bag of weed and a bad b*tch – the Holy Trinity.” Kanye's latest "G.O.O.D. Fridays" entry, “The Joy," lived up to its name in the Booth as well as on RefinedHype, inspiring Nathan to fall victim to a nasty case of hip-hop Tourettes, readers on both sites to praise the cut to high heavens, and me to do a little research on what went into the instrumental. And, since I have a strict policy of turning time wasted on YouTube , WhoSampled.com and Wikipedia into Production Breakdown material whenever possible, I thought I'd share with the class... Kanye West, Kid Cudi & Raekwon Are “Gorgeous” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/05/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Raekwon

Allow me to quote my favorite author, me, during the course of reviewing the tracklist of Kanye West's upcoming album "Dark Twisted Fantasy": "I can't fucking wait to hear that Raekwon joint." The wait is over. Last night the latest Yeezy leak "Gorgeous" dropped, featuring yet another incredible beat, verses from Kanye we already heard on that Funk Flex freestyle, a tight verse from The Chef and a hook from Cudi that works perfectly.

Kanye West, 47 Guest Artists & “All of the Lights” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/04/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, The Dream, Kid Cudi, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Charlie Wilson, Tony Williams

It's never a good sign when you can't even name all the artists on your own track. During the premiere of Kanye's "Runaway" film when he started talking about "All of the Lights" boundary breaking roster, started to list everyone set to appear on the record, and then got lost after four or five folks. We really shouldn't be surprised about "All of the Lights" though - Kanye's nothing if not a man of excess. Listen and download...

The Only Good Part of Funkmaster Flex’s 5 Hour Interview: A Dope Kanye x Pusha T Freestyle

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/03/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, Freestyles, Pusha T

I realized it was my job, my solemn duty, to listen to Funkmaster Flex's five hour interview with Kanye West and let RefinedHype nation know if it's worth their time. It's not. I mean, it's not a terrible interview, and Yeezy has a couple nice lines, but we don't learn anything new, or even particularly exciting. So if you've got five hours to kill, maybe you're stuck in an elevator, have at it. If not, don't worry, you're not missing much....expect for the dope freestyle. Listen and download...

Kanye West, Pete Rock, Jay-Z & Charlie Wilson Feel “The Joy” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Nathan S. on 11/01/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Good Friday, Jay-Z, Charlie Wilson, Pete Rock

This new "Good Friday" joint is so dope it's giving me Tourettes: Holy sh*t balls f**k godd*mn "The Joy" is incredible. So incredible in fact, that I'm not even going to bring up Kid Cudi's non-performance. Instead, let's recognize that 99% of the rappers in the game would kill their grandmothers to put out a record like this, and Kanye did it for free in his spare time. The man's just on a different level. Listen and download...

Four Changes That Would Have Made Kanye’s “Runaway” Better

Posted by Danielle Harling on 10/27/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Features, Kanye West

It’s been almost a week since rapper turned film connoisseur Kanye West premiered his short film Runaway so I think it’s safe to say that everyone and their mama has seen the flick. That being said "Runaway" was cool and all, but there are a few things I personally feel should have been changed. And they go a little something like this…

Watch the Full “Runaway” Short Film from Kanye West (Video)

Posted by Nathan S. on 10/25/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Videos, Kanye West

So I've been out of pocket for the last few days, my bad. I was hanging out with Noriega, the real Noriega. Well, I'm finally back in commission, though I'm so swamped with emails I'll be playing catch-up for the rest of today and then get back on the full grind tomorrow. The point is, if I'm only going to get a couple posts up before the sun sets on Monday, it's going to be Kanye's new track, "Don't Look Down", and the full version of his short film "Runaway", which I saw the premiere of in L.A. on the big screen. Kanye, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco & Big Sean Say “Don’t Look Down” (Listen & Download)

Posted by Richard on 10/25/10 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Big Sean, Good Friday

Call me crazy, but I think Kanye West may finally have learned to let go; on his latest G.O.O.D. Fridays leak, the hip-hop megastar takes a new approach to the familiar breakup theme, telling the girl he loves “Don’t Look Down” as she rises, phoenix-like, from the ashes of their failed relationship. In addition to revisiting the subject matter of his last full-length, West employs Swizzy (and The Individualz) to refine the 808s sound here, flipping a mournful piano-brass-synth arrangement into something of a hip-hop funeral march with the help of some rolling snares.
