Punch a Kitten Music: ScHoolboy Q’s “Yay Yay” (Listen)

I can admit that I slept on ScHoolboy Q more than any other TDE artist. At first (maybe...two years or so ago now) I thought he was just the ignorant dude in the background of the TDE movement. But then "Habits & Contradictions" dropped and I really started listening...and then I saw that he's one of the straight up best live performers working now....and then I listened to "Habits & Contradictions" more....and more...and more...and now I'm mildly obsessed with ScHoolboy. (Recognize the instrumental I use for the "This Week in Hype" podcast intro?)

So yeah, I'm pretty fucking stoked for his upcoming "Oxymoron" album, especially if it sounds like "Yay Yay". There aren't a lot of dudes with enough flow and style to pull off a hook like that, but Q is one of them. Nothing complicated here, this is just some of that straight up "Punch a Kitten Music". It's not going to replace "Nightmare on Figg St." as my favorite Q banger of all-time, but I've got a feeling it's gonna end up near the top of the list.

"Oxymoron" is scheduled to drop sometime before "Detox". In the meantime, enjoy...

Update - The screamed "Yak yak yak!" background vocals here, those are the same ones on Kendrick's "madd city", right? Anyone know where that originally comes from?
