On the real, this is one of those hip-hop moments I live for. The most successful rapper of all-time on the same track as the best young emcee alive? I don't know how to put this, but this is kind of a big deal.

Let's just cut to the chase and get to the question everyone really wants to answer: who had the better verse? No, scratch that. Here's the question everyone really wants to answer, especially given his history of hip-hop homicide: Did Kendrick Lamar just murder Jay-Z on the "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)?"

Personally, I've already come full circle on this shit in the few hours since it first dropped. My initial reaction was "Everyone's going to say Kendrick killed Jay because it's the easy and fun thing to say, just like people are prematurely throwing out 'Lebron is the new Jordan' comments." There's no way Hova was going to slack on this; K. Dot might have the slightly better verse, but there was no way he was going to get murdered...

....but after listening to this for an hour straight? Shit....I really am trying to think this through, but....not only are Kendrick's verses better, I think they're significantly better. Does that mean he murdered Jay? Murder is an exaggeration, but he did slap him around a little bit, especially on the second verse.

Let me put it this way, if this track was just Jay-Z' verse, I'd think it was pretty damn good. If this track was just Kendrick's verses (or just his second verse to make it equal), I'd think it was the best song I've heard this year.

Regardless, this is a great thing for hip-hop. Musically, this is the biggest moment of Kendrick's career, and the game needs all the elite lyrical competition it can get.

I know RefinedHype Nation is going to have a lot to say about this one, have at it people....

p.s. - I was going to say Jay-Z has to hear this and wish he signed Kendrick over Cole, but then I remembered Jay doesn't really want anyone who possibly topple his throne on the label.
p.p.s. - I could spend the next five hours breaking down the Kobe/Jordan = Kendrick/Jay analogy in that art work.
