F**k This “I Feel Like Pac/I Feel Like Biggie” Song. F**k It To DeathPosted by Nathan S. on 10/08/13 | Filed under Rick Ross, T.I., Fails, Diddy, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled |

(Scene: The Fat Guy Who Yells' Miami Mansion. He's got a plate of chicken wings in front of him, Camera zooms in, we see the tracklist for his upcoming album, "Suffering From Success". There's one spot on the tracklist with a question mark.)
The Fat Guy Who Yells: "I'm still missing that one song that will get everyone talking. Hmmm......" (Picks up a chicken wing, then another, then another, strokes his beard lost in thought, eats another chicken wing.) "I got it! If 'Tupac Back' got people talking, Tupac AND Biggie will make the internet explode!"
(Eats a chicken wing, calls Swizz Beatz, eats a chicken wing.) "He, Swizz, can you yell a hook into a microphone about Pac and Biggie and send it over? I don't even really care what you say."
Swizz Beatz: "Showtime!"
-------------------------------------------
So here's the thing. I fucking know The Fat Guy Who Yells is essentially trolling me into writing about "I Feel Like Pac / I Feel Like Biggie". He's looking to hit this sweet spot, the same one Drake hit with "Wu Tang Forever", where rap nerds who would otherwise just ignore the song get all outraged and write about it, then there's this backlash of other people who argue that those rap nerds are taking shit too seriously, and boom, it's trending on Twitter. And if there's one thing I don't want to do, it's fall into the Fat Guy Who Yells' trap. Still....
....fuck this song. Fuck it to death.
Here's the thing. I'm not one of these people who think that Biggie and Tupac's legacy shouldn't be touched. They weren't flawless artists or people, and in many ways treating them as flawless rap-gods do as much to turn them into one-dimensional symbols as "Tupac Back". If rappers never reference their music then their memory dies.
But there's a bold, thick line between paying tribute to Pac and Biggie and simply capitalizing on their name, and this shit is just straight up capitalization. Fuck, at the very least Drake used a Wu-Tang sample so the Clan got some money in exchange for him using their name, but from the artwork to the production to the rhymes, "I Feel Like Pac / I Feel Like Biggie" is just straight capitalization.
And the crazy thing is T.I.'s verse is nearly fucking flawless. That verse is everything that could have made this a truly great tribute track, and the Fat Guy Who Yells has done it before. Remember Nas and Scarface on "Hip-Hop"? That was straight up one of the best tracks of last year, and if this was just T.I., or another similiar verse, this could have been up there too. But Swizz yelling some shit while Rick Ross and Meek Mill rap about the same shit they rap about on every track? Nah.
These men are not only landmarks in a culture we love, they were real men with families who were tragically killed. We can demand that their names be used responsibly without turning into hip-hop police. So even though it's everything The Fat Guy Who Yells' wants me to say, fuck this song. Hip-hop deserves better.
"...didn't come up off no fucking gimmicks, bitch
2Pac ain't back cuz he got set up and shot in the chest
Biggie ain't either, so won't y'all gon let them niggas rest?" - Freddie Gibbs "187 Proof"
