I'll be writing in detail about G.O.O.D. Music's new "Cruel Summer" album on the mothership tonight, but before I do, I've got to get something off my chest: god I hate the opening track, "To the World".

Upfront, I'll admit that it's an almost completely irrational level of hate. My wife hates Drew Barrymore, just can't fucking stand her. Personally, I can see how Barrymore could be annoying, but I'm always a little surprised with the level of disdain my wife has for Barrymore. Really? You hate her that much?

So yes, I'll admit that "To the World" is very probably my Drew Barrymore. The beat that sounds like a "MBDTF" leftover? The way R. Kelly sounds like a seal that just got punched in the face during his little vocal run at the :50 mark? Kanye's half-assed verse that rips off Big Sean's "See Me Now"? Really, that's the way you chose to kick off what you've been calling the biggest album of the year? I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

In fact, I hate it so much that it's kind of ruining the entire album for me. Maybe by ranting a little, getting it off my chest and just deleting "To the World" from iTunes I'll be in a better place for the album review tonight. Thanks for letting me get in a little hip-hop therapy people.
