This Week in Hype Podcast: Going Inside Interscope’s Offices, Rap Samples & More

First, let's talk shop RefinedHype Nation (feel free to skip to the bottom if you just want to listen). When I started "This Week in Hype" I had on idea what I was doing, and I'm still obviously figuring this podcasty thing out. Now that I'm more than 20 episodes deep, I've learned a few lessons, the biggest one being that scheduling guests can take more work than running the rest of the site. That's why I've experimented with a solo-only podcast over the last few weeks (kind of like a rap version of Bill Burr's shit). I assumed no one would want to listen to just my rap nerd ass, but the numbers say "This Week in Hype" is more popular than ever. I know, I'm as shocked as you.

At the same time, I do feel like the podcast is missing something now. That's why I added a trivia question/giveaway, and I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate guests without relying on them for the entire episode. Maybe a guest asks the trivia question? Maybe I do a "10 Minutes With Someone Dope" segment where an artist calls in? Frankly, I don't know what the next right move is, but I'm working on it, and I'd love to hear any ideas RefinedHype Nation has. That's a level of behind the scenes transparency most wouldn't give their audience, but this podcast is for y'all, so I figured you should have a say in the product.

Anyway....

For the latest edition of the "This Week in Hype" podcast, I offer a sneak peek inside UMG's offices, obsess over a Black Eyed Peas cover, prove I've memorized "Scenario" and much more. Plus, a new trivia question and a chance to win more free shit. So, you know, you've got that going for you.

Discussed This Week:

* Going deep inside the belly of the beast UMG's offices.
* You should definitely not steal that Black Eyed Peas "Monkey Business" poster.
* I prove I memorized "Scenario" with a terrible rendition.
* Sample clearance - the difference between mixtape producers and album producers.
* New trivia question - first person to email me the correct answer wins a custom phone case from Castegram.
* This week's closing song, LORDE's "Royals".

Would you like to automatically get these podcasts? No? Fuck you then. Everyone else can subscribe to "This Week in Hype" on iTunes.

Enjoy...
