This Week in General Awesomeness: Nas on CNN, the New GRRWWOAT & More

The interwebs are a wonderful place filled with porn, more porn, and occasionally some other General Awesome stuff. That's where I come in.

As a balance to the ever popular "Fails of the Week", below is some of the best the world has to offer in the form of Nas on CNN, the new GRWWOAT, a true more than meets the eye moment and more.

CNN is Good to Nas

Things haven't always gone so well when rappers have appeared on cable news programming. Sure, for us "You Mad?!?" will go down in history as one of the greatest quotes of all-time, but it didn't exactly do a lot to help the world's views of hip-hop.

So I do feel like we need to take a moment and thank Anderson Cooper for including a rapper, in this case Nas, in an intelligent discussion about the Trayvon Martin shooting. (As opposed to the time when he was involved in this.) A rapper not being scapegoated and forced to defend the most negative parts of hip-hop culture? This is rarer than seeing Rick Ross in a Pilates class.

Meet the New GRRWWOAT

I know you're expecting to see this in "Fails of the Week", but, and I kind of can't believe I'm saying this, random white weatherman could rap. I'm not saying he's better than any actual rapper, but admit it, he's definitely better than you were expecting. He's using a beat that samples "Let Me Clear My Throat", is trading off bars (with himself), has some punchlines, throws in some Beastie Boys references, switches up his flow.

It may be because I'm hammered right now, but fuck it, salute to you random white weatherman. As far as I'm concerned, you're the Greatest Rapping Random White Weatherman of All-Time.

Meet Your Next President

Hey may not even be in high school yet, but I'm already willing to vote for Asean Johson. While Chicago continues to underfund its schools in the midst of a violence epidemic, Asean continues to publicly shame adults:

"“You are slashing our education. You are pulling me down. You are taking our education and our potential away. Let the community talk. Let the students talk. Let the parents talk. Let the teachers talk. Let them control this board. Don’t let the bank control this board … You are saying this is all about the kids. I’m a student myself and I’m pleading and begging that you help these parents and their low income. Help them out. Give them what the need. Give them these schools.”

Maybe the kids are alright after all...
