Robin Thicke & Kendrick Lamar Fall Victim To The Electro Curse On “Give It 2 U” (Listen)

Crooner Robin Thicke really had a great thing going with "Blurred Lines," an upbeat number which featured the likes of Pharrell Williams and T.I. But for some unfortunate reason the singer has decided to go completely left field on his latest single,"Give It 2 U," and he's chosen to drag along Kendrick Lamar for the schizophrenic number. "Give It 2 U" is a record that combines an electro beat with Thicke's smooth vocals, pair that with a guest verse from Kendrick and it seems the song really lacks true direction.

It's pretty common knowledge that electro is what's trendy now, but have you honestly heard more than one R&B or rap song that uses an electro-inspired beat and actually sounds decent? And even if you can name a few, the bad ones are so awful that they far outweigh the handful of decent songs that do boast electo beats. "Give It 2 U" isn't awful, but a Robin Thicke song that features Kendrick Lamar is supposed to be dope as all hell and the record's far from that.

With Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" album set for release at the end of this month, I really hope he can redeem himself with a dope record, or else all that two-stepping T.I. did in the "Blurred Lines" video would have been in vain.
