So Lloyd Banks was in the studio with Kanye, Ryan Leslie and Swizz Beatz making "Christian Dior Denim Flow" and was like, "Hey guys, as long as we're here can we do a song for my new album?" Actually, I have no idea if that's actually true, but it can't be a coincidence that Banks' new single "Start It Up" features three of the same dudes who were with him on "Cristian Dior", with Fabolous (who was just with him on the "Deuces Remix") being the only new addition. So basically Banks is running with Yeezy instead of Fiddy now. Smart move considering Kanye's running the game and 50's busy prank calling Shyne. (And I've fulfilled my beef starting quota for the day.)
First the good news: the beat by Cardiac is decent if nothing spectacular, and Kanye's verse is one of the more entertaining flows I've heard from him in a minute (that "my ball" line killed me). And I can't say he killed it, but Loso was as rewind worthy as ever. Definitely worth a listen.
And now some rampant haterism: I'd like to extend an "are you out of your goddamn mind?" to "Fader" writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, who claimed that Swizzy was the hook MVP of the year. Are you out of your goddamn mind? If a grown man making motorcycle noises is what passes for MVP work these days, we're in trouble. Oh, and if by "hood rich" he means he's millions of dollars in debt, than yes, he's hood rich.
There, I think it's out of my system. Banks upcoming album "The Hunger for More 2" drops November 23.
Hahah Nathan, just callin out names now! I f#ckin love it...not to mention completely agree. Just because you're asked to make a "hook" for some of the biggest names in the game doesn't make you MVP, the hooks have to be solid. Aside from Swizzy ramblin and grunting the track is a banger!
...Oh you fancy, huh?

I think this track is pretty bad. It just isn't very exciting and well, just boring. Kanye's line were pretty funny, though, but I agree with Nathan, Fab went in too. Can't really decide.
And yeah that hook is terrible.

It has a formula that should work, and the song looks good on paper but some thing about it just isn't connecting with me

Maybe the hook is just that bad, cuz a three year old could have come up with motorcycle noises.

I'd agree with Amm092434 - it's enjoyable, but I don't think anyone's really getting that hyped over this. The beat's good, not great, the verses are good but no one blows you away and that hook, well, y'all know what I think of that hook.
We'll all have forgotten this song ever happened in a month.
