Like a Mama Bear, Hype NY Goes Into Hibernation

Like a Mama Bear, Hype NY Goes Into Hibernation

Posted by Nathan S. on 12/15/10 | Filed under Concerts, Nightlife, Culture

Unless you're walking around with a space heater in your pants - which, by the way, we do not recommend - you've noticed that the days have gotten much colder, darker and short. Not exactly the kind of thing that makes you want to hit the streets in search of the best the city has to offer.

That's why Hype NY will be taking a cue from mother nature and going into hibernation for the winter. So while you're warm inside your apartment watching the snow fall, we'll be locked in our offices, working to bring back Hype NY even bigger and stronger in the spring.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the our launch such an overwhelming success. Happy holidays, happy New Year and we'll see you soon.

Friday - Let Down Your Guard for Avant (Win Tickets!)

We’ve each related entirely too well with R&B crooner Avant’s breakout breakup hit, “Separated” -- haven’t we? It’s one of those songs that makes you shake your head slowly in commiseration, much like the rest of the singer’s soulful sounds. He’s bringing his heart-rendingly vulnerable vocals to B.B. King’s on Friday night, fresh off this week’s release of his new album, The Letter. Want to get together to share his pain? Email me at [email protected] with your favorite Avant song in the subject for your shot at one of five pairs of tickets!

I recently Christmas-gifted myself with what I now consider one of my prized possessions -- a Wu Tang Clan C.R.E.A.M. hoodie. It seems to have since sold out all over, but if you’re feenin’ for some similar fly gear, you’re in luck -- Rocksmith, the clothing company that made my current wardrobe staple, is running a sample sale pop-up shop on the Lower East Side featuring their Wu wares.
