How Much Controversy Will Kanye West’s “I Am A God” Snippet Stir Up? (Listen)

Remember when we all thought "I Am A God" was the title of Kanye West's upcoming album? Well, we all eventually learned that "I Am A God" is merely a track on the rapper's "Yeezus" project. Although "merely" is certainly an understatement. The title of the song has already ruffled a few feathers and the snippet of "I Am A God," released yesterday via KanyeWest.com, is just as bold lyrically as its title.

Although 'Ye isn't dropping anything terribly moving lyrically in those 30 seconds, his claims to Godliness have already caused many to self-combust due to immense rage. Seriously, just check out the YouTube comments for the video above. I'm sure we can get into a huge debate in regards to whether or not Kanye's comments on being a God are pushing the limit. Personally, I'm not really bothered by them.

At the end of the day music is about self-expression and if Kanye wants to adopt "Yeezus" as his God name and rap about what he feels is his overall Godliness then I'm not going to knock the guy. And with the backing of the legendary Rick Rubin, I can't imagine that "I Am A God" would sound anything less than stellar.

And if that 30 seconds of "I Am A God" wasn't enough for your daily Kanye fix then there's always this footage of the rapper performing "New Slaves" over in Switzerland. Can we just talk about how odd it is seeing Kanye perform in a hoodie and not some bedazzled kilt?
