Download Every Song Ever From (Maybe) The Best Rapper Alive, Jay Electronica

Who is the best emcee in the game today? Kendrick? Jay-Z? Maybe 3 Stacks? Kripsy Kreme? While all those (minus Krispy Kreme) are arguable, I think the answer might come from someone whose biggest problem is that they aren’t “in the game” enough; Jay Electronica. It might seem crazy because he has yet have an album drop and is quite erratic in his releases, but when he does release something, there is no denying his elite status. If you need some evidence, Nobuzz.net has compiled every Jay Elec cut from solos to guests spots into one, 95 track download of hip-hop awesomeness:

This collection includes EVERY track and verse that has ever been released by Jay Electronica to this point, as well as exclusive abridged (shortened) versions of some of his featured tracks that you won’t find anywhere else….It consists of 93 total tracks, including 68 solo tracks and 25 features.

There are plenty of cuts in here to use as evidence of the emcees elite talent, but I think the best is the full 15 minute edition of "Act I Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)".
The emcees production, whether it be his, Just Blaze, or anyone else, is always top notch and on "Act 1" it is perfect. Jay takes the soundtrack to Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, puts in some phenomenal samples, and raps over the beat if you can even call it that considering there are no drums; this more of a conceptual mini-tape than a song. also included are two interviews with Just Blaze and Erykah Badu on Mr. Elec (Erykah's is eccentric to say the least). As for the music Jay’s flow is steady and versatile enough to be able to pull of something like this, but where Jay really wins me over is in his lyrical content. Take the second verse in "Act 1". After the awesome Willy Wonka sample Jay spits the following:

The handling of a heart's A very delicate art Cause it's paper thin One irrelevant thought That started out as a spark Could be a poisonous dart That leaves a permanent mark That's ice cold in the day and burns in the dark And makes you never wanna see her face again

I still get goosebumps on occasion when I listen to it. The way he describes the end of a relationship is perfect and is more poetry than bar. Seriously, how perfect is that description? “Ice cold in the day and burns in the dark”…goddamn.

So while his body of work might doesn’t follow the standard release formula, the quality of his content far outweighs the quantity of other emcees projects. Don’t get me wrong, I want the album as much as the next person, but I am I willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, for now; I don’t know how much longer I can wait patiently for "Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn)". This library of his stuff is nice, but for a man is the epitome of what hip-hop is supposed to be and I think, could effectively help change the game, he needs to drop something new soon before people are turned off by waiting. I would be heartbroken if "Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn)" turned out to be the next "Detox".
