Last week, I was pretty pleased with RefinedHype’s take on the Bound 2 video. Top Gun references, jimmy Kimmel, and a radar projected on to Kim’s boobs; what more could you want? We stay flexin’ our creative muscles. I had thought RefinedHype won the “Bound 2” remake contest (mainly because we were the only nominee) but then out of nowhere, James Franco and Seth Rogen bodied us with their live action rendition.
 

It’s not fair, considering they have a movie budget and we don’t (yet…), but I will give credit to where credit is due, this is fucking hilarious. Thank god Seth Rogen has no shame because he was the perfect Kim; I lost it when he nuzzled ever so gently into Franco’s neck. It reallytakes a dedicated actor to engage in some man-love for nothing more than an internet video, but the man puts his all into it. Franco's awkward rapper stunting was gold too.  Not only did this get me in the mood to marathon watch Pineapple Express and ride a motorcycle embracing my best friend do something super manly, but it got me thinking about other great parody videos. Long live the internet!

Weird Al Yankovic- "Amish Paradise"
 

The Parody Game Tupac…satire game MJ…the godfather of all parodies, Weird Al has been knocking celebrities down a peg for almost 40 years (he has been around since 1976!) so of course we had to put him first. "Amish Paradise"  just might be his Mona Lisa. Not only is it fucking spot on (the scene where he is basically leaking sweat down his face gets me every time) but the fact that Coolio got all butt hurt about it makes it even better. Of course, as Weird Al pointed out, he probably wasn’t that mad when he got a royalty check. Weird Al was trolling before the internet was a thing. Respect the legend!

Dave Chappelle- “Piss On You”

I don’t know if this is technically a satire because it is not a real song (although it very well could be) but his “Piss On You” where he takes the role of R. Kelly I just phenomenal. “doo doo butter” part of my regular vernacular and at times, I find myself singing this song even though I haven’t heard it in years; the make of a great satire. Oh yeah and this.

                                                 

3.) "Shawt Bus Shawty"

Rarely are the parody singers actually better than the artists they are grillin’ but "Shawt Bus Shawty" is the exception. I would rather listen to the parody over any of the artists they body. There is plenty to love here, but I think the OJ Da Juiceman verse is my favorite just because the nailed that squeaky, whirring sound that he does which sounds like a high-powered wrench they use in auto shops. Waka Flocka’s alphabet verse was hot fire too though. As an extra bonus, the animations are gold too. A well-rounded parody if ever there was one.

Honorable Mention:

It wasn’t hip-hop related but I couldn’t resist because Muppets.  MUPPETS!!!

Sure these parodies are corny, goofy, and totally a joke, but on the real, it takes some incredible creativity to do them. You can, and are supposed to, laugh at them, but don’t  dismiss them as a joke. It is hard to make someone else’s material original, but these guys all did so and we are all better human beings for it. I’m sure I forgot some, so be sure to share your favorite parodies below.
