F**k a Leak, Freddie Gibbs’ “ESGN” Album Is Officially Out Right Now (Stream) Posted by Lucas G. on 06/20/13 | Filed under Streams, Freddie Gibbs

A few weeks ago, when I was constructing my hip-hop football team, I really, really wanted to include Freddie Gibbs. The dude is edgy, unapologetic, and downright ruthless and would be perfect for a squad. Even if I couldn’t find a position for him, I would want him on my team so that I don’t have to face off against him. While he might be a no-nonsense emcee that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his loyal, ever-growing fan base. His forthcoming album, ESGN, was originally scheduled to drop in July, but since it was leaked, he said fuck it and dropped it today.

As if you needed one more reason to love the indie scene, Gibbs ability to move the album date is solely because he is not signed to a big label. Gibbs has sacrificed a giant payday in order to keep the freedom and integrity of his career to bring us the best he has to offer and for that, you should reward him with your dolla dolla bills y’all. In the event that you want to give the album a test drive before you buy it, the Gary, Indiana emcee has teamed up with DJBooth to provide a stream of the album. If songs like “Eastside Moonwalker” tickle your fancy, you can even purchase ESGN right there on DJBooth.

I have no problem with downloading leaks from big label artists (unless I really love them), because one way or another, they are going to make their money. Indie artists however, need all the help they can get. As with any kind of big business, the companies don’t really care about you, they care about your money, which is often the only power we have. If you want to show them you care more about real hip-hop and want the industry to change, show them with your wallet. The industry is better off when indie artists like Gibbs can show that they don’t have to sacrifice content to sell.

And if you just don't have the bread, it won't cost you a penny to stream and listen below. Ganster Gibbs never disappoints, enjoy...
