Think about the best/your favorite music videos for a second. What do they all have in common? Replayability right? The best visuals are the ones that you can watch over and over again and never get sick of. They have some original, creative spin to them which make them stand out and makes you you want to watch over and over again; crucial because the more you watch, the more you remember that artist (and, thus, the more want to hear). With all that in mind the award for video of the year (and perhaps best video ever) goes to Vania Heymann. She made this interactive music video for the classic tune “Like A Rolling Stone” to spread word about "Bob Dylan: The Complete Album Collection, Vol. 1" box set. Watch it here.

The premise is simple, you are watching TV, but it is the way Heyman goes about the video that makes it so awesome. First off, you are able to change stations and the song keeps playing, so it's interactive. What really make this something special is that each channel is recreated so the characters, news reporters, or "Pawn Stars" are singing the words to “Like A Rolling Stone”. They got big names too, like Drew Carey for "The Price Is Right" and Steve Levy, an "ESPN" anchor. I haven’t checked out all the channels yet, because I have been stuck on one channel that features none other than Danny Brown.

Yes, that Danny Brown. Maybe it’s my hip-hop bias coming out, but the Danny Brown channel is the best of them all; does any artist encompass the theme of “Like A Rolling Stone” better than him? Anyway, The level of depth the went to is astounding. It is basically a Danny Brown video, custom made for “Like A Rolling Stone” and it even has that little animated twinge a la “Dip" with animated hot dogs, donuts, and more. Take a second and think about what you are watching…Danny Brown lying on the ground, wearing a cowboy hat and eating what appears to be an ice cream sandwich all while singing Bob Dylan…I can’t stop thinking about how they actually filmed this; a day of hanging out with Danny Brown while he consumes various foods at the park. This would have been enough for me but there are even more channels to explore.  Below are the credits for each channel.

Just look at the amount of time and man power spent on each station. A few viewings only scratches the surface of what the video holds. It is stuff like that that makes me so excited for the future. They are taking a classic in every sense of the word and modernizing it, all while keeping its soul intact. There is going to be a whole new generation of kids who get to experience Bob Dylan’s music thanks to this and they are doing it and an original, fun way. This is all that is right with music.
