Weekly Re-Up: Game Of Thrones Madness, Wale Recap, & More

Posted by Lucas G. on 04/04/14 | Filed under Top Stories, Weekly Re-Up, Fails, General Awesomness

Listen, it's Friday, we get it. Nobody really wants to do anything that involves using your brain. So the new "Weekly Re-Up" will provide you with both the biggest "Fails" and the most awesome "General Awesomeness", as well as some other must see shit from the week, and of course some boobs. We will also be including a "Weekend Soundtrack" selection to give you something to listen to this weekend. It's a whole lot of everything.

Now let's get started...

General Awesomeness:

The Bauce:
There have been many a salty rapper to attack a blogger and say "You only blog because you can't rap". It's the old standby for the butt-hurt emcee. In my case it's true (well, it's not the only reason I blog, but if I could rap I would), but it in;t universally true. Other than Nathan, I really don't know any other bloggers but I do feel a sacred bond with my bloggin' bretheren; I mean there are only so many of us who make the bold choice to forgo health benefits and real jobs to write about rap (and boobs). So maybe I'm biased, but when it comes to this "We Made It" remix from RefinedHype ally, BauceSauce,  I fucking love it. Never can a rapper say we can't rap! Well, in my case they can, but it's not true for all of us and that my friends is a point for the bloggers.

It's more than just an ironic thing too, some of these lines. Now obviously,he isn't Young Thug with the flow, but the who else has ever said "mouth flesh", mentioned Redd's Apple Ale, and Kirby in the same song? On the real, this is better than like 90% of the Drake remixes I usually hear.  The man just created the first ever bloggers anthem!

P.S.... RefinedHype response track coming soon? Hmmmmmmmm........

Winter Is Here:

Is it Sunday yet? There are very few things I love more than the weekend, but Game Of Thrones is one of them, which is why I would happy skip ahead to Sunday night when the new season starts. Now if you don't watch it (or haven't read the books) you are probably so sick of people like me talking about it. Well, to you I say, it's your own fault. If you would just watch it you would know why everyone wants to talk about it. To get you hype (as if the above trailer didn't do that already) here is some of the dope Game Of Thrones themed shit that was all over the interwebz this week.

Every GoT fan gets goosebumps during that intro, but I have to say, this 70's sitcom remake blows the original out of the water. Even the song is dope (and sounds easily sampleable).

Need a refresher on what happened but don't have time to watch all of last season? No fear, just peep this emoji recap.

And of course...booty. Promos and Emojis are great, but if you  if you really want to recap the important stuff, you only need to watch this montage of all the naked scenes from last season. NSFW (duh)

Fails Of The Week:

Wale Being a Jabroni:

As much as it pains me to do so, I think it's time we crown Wale as hip-hop's biggest cry baby. I hate to do it to a fellow DMV-er, bit after the whole WWE Raw fight debacle this week, he has left me with no choice. Now, we already talked about it earlier in the week, but sadly, it seems to be the story of the week so we have to include it here. Especially after Wale explained his side to MTV.

"I was like, 'Yo, is this you?' And one thing lead to another, and I just kind of mushed him a little bit," the rapper explained, stressing that things didn't turn violent. "Honestly, if there wasn't kids right there, it would have went a little bit differently, but I just wanted to be conscious of them. It's not to say it was the right decision. But in the moment, you know."

"People get it misconstrued," he went on. "Like, 'Oh, you're so butt-hurt.' It's not even that. I come from a place where when we was at the lunch table and n---as was jonesing on each other, I'll respond. I'm gonna have something better, too. And now we've come to a place where, if you respond, you're a bitch. Somebody could say 'F--- you' 100 times, if I say 'f--- you' back, then I'm a bitch. And people be like, 'You're famous, you shouldn't care.' "

He admits that's not the case with him, though. "I care what people say because I try to be a man of the people."

Is this real life? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! It's not that you said "fuck you" back its the fact that at a public event, you took time to go out of the way to find the person and then "mush" him. And I'm sorry but it's not just this event either. It's not like he slapped your grandma or stole your socks, he said something on social media. Also, If this was the first time Wale had acted like a baby I'd give him a pass but we all remember the complex incident (among others) right? What other rapper cares about this shit? Like you can can party with Desean Jackson and you are worried that a husky dude called you a bad name on Twitter? All hail Wale, king of hurt feelings...and face mushing.

King Of The Rap Game:

Honestly, I'm a little worried about the repercussions of our Baller Draft. Not only did I get absolutely smoked in the voting (still think my team is better), but now, it seems like everyone is desperate to get drafted so much so that professional athletes are now desperately trying to get into the rap game in hopes of getting drafted. That has to be it right? There is no other explanation for Fred Davis last week and Boogie Smooth this week than blowback from RefinedHype. Just who is Boogie Smooth you ask? You probably no him better as Demarcus Cousins (because nobody in the world knows who Boogie Smooth is). Earlier this week, Smooth Cousins Smooth no... Cousins ( I refuse to call him Boogie Smooth) instagramed this.

Now the album being pressed, packaged and ready for distribution is bad enough but take a really close look. Anything stand out to you? Maybe the fact that Chance The Rapper's name is on it?! Yup, Chance is a guest on Cousins' lead single "Emotional" off the Misunderstood album (between the two names he sounds kind of like a teenage girl doesn't he). Chance has made Bieber tolerable, but he has his work cut out for him here. The song isn't out yet, but it won't be long...and you will definitely hear about it. Considering the history of baller rappers, I think its safe to assume this is a big fat fail.

Weekend Soundtrack:

I'm not a big mash-up guy, but recently I have been really fucking with Yasiin Gaye, which is a Mos Def/Marvin Gaye mash-up album from Amerigo Gazaway. This album has been buzzing lately and I finally got a chance to check it out; wow! Some truly great stuff here. I know it's a mash-up album, but this is more creative than some original shit out there.

Booty Of The Week:

So I'm not done with Game Of Thrones booty. Complaints? Didn't think so. Here we have Natalie Dormer aka Margaery Tyrell posing in GQ. I'd like to see her Kings Landing if you know what I mean...
