Thurz Channels Spirit of Slick Rick for “Kid’s Story” (Listen & Download) Posted by Nathan S. on 11/10/11 | Filed under Downloads, Thurz

A lot of rappers over the years have taken a stab at Slick Rick's classic "Children's Story", my personal favorite is Mos Def's take on the classic tale, but more than two decades after the original dropped you've got to really come with it if you're going to live up to the Rickster. Thankfully we never have to worry about "L.A. Riot" creator Thurz sounding stale.

Constant beat companion Ro Blvd supplies a completely original beat that echoes the early Clipse-era Neptunes' production while Thurzday updates the old school story line into a cautionary tale about the dangers of flossing on credit card scams. Dopeness.

"Kid's Story" is exclusive to the mothership's 20/20 Music Series, done in partnership with Event Electronics. Fans can click here to learn how they can win a pair of Event’s new 20/20 BAS monitors.

Thurz' version is below the video for the original. Enjoy....
