You Come At The King You Best Not Miss:

Earlier in the week, we debated a 1 on 1 showdown between Kobe, Lebron, and Michael Jordan. I was surprised so many thought Jordan would win with ease, but I guess the argument could be made for any of the three. What isn’t up for debate is the result of an O.J vs MJ showdown. Not just because O.J. Mayo isn’t worthy of holding Jordan’s jock, but because the showdown already happened. A few years back, when Mayo was a high schooler, he attended one of Jordan’s basketball camps. In a game of pick-up Mayo was being guarded by his airness and after sinking a few shots he got a little cocky and started jawing, which prompted a 42-year-old Jordan to give him a few lessons by humiliating him in front of the whole camp. After Jordan said “Hey, young fella, let me tell you something. You may be the best high school player in the world, but I’m the greatest ever. Don’t you ever disrespect the great like that.”

Breaking “Tha Crossroads”:

First a spoiler alert; If you haven’t watched the series finale of "Breaking Bad" for the love of god DO NOT watch this!!!! for those that have watched it, you will love this video. At first I didn’t know how to feel about the series finale, but after chewing on it, I decided it was the perfect ending for a perfect show; I think my disappointment stemmed from the fact that there will be no more Breaking Bad. At least I thought it was perfect until I saw the last scene again with Bone Thugs’ classic “Tha Crossroads” playing instead of Badfinger’s “Baby Blue”. RIP Breaking Bad, be sure to pour a little out in honor of one of the best shows ever.

Global Beats:

As much as we all love music, we take it, and all the technology that comes with it for granted. Out computers, iPhones, and Ipods are attached at our hip so life without them becomes almost imaginable; don’t know what I would do without the Internet and all my music. For some, who love music just as much as us, access to all the technology is simply not possible, which is what makes this PBS Beat Making Lab series so special. Producer Apple Juice Kid, a producer, and Pierce Freelon, a professor, teamed up with PBS to create a 2 week course on beat making in Ethiopia. The mini documentary follows the life of Gelila as she tends to her family, her studies, and of course the beats. What makes this even more special is the beat camp’s objective is to spread awareness about health issues in Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa.
