Sweet Baby Jesus, It’s the OG Version of Snoop’s “Ain’t No Fun” Posted by Nathan S. on 06/19/13 | Filed under Snoop Dogg, Rap Nerdery, Before They Blew

Here's how you know you're getting old...

You're stuck in L.A. traffic, flipping through the radio. You come across KDAY and Snoop Dogg's classic "Ain't No Fun" comes on. Years of rap conditioning kick in, you instantly crank the volume up. Two seconds later you realize your daughter's in the back seat. You desperately try to change the channel as quickly as possible, start praying those two seconds weren't enough to ruin her life forever.

But since it's just me and my computer at the moment...HOLY SHIT HERE'S THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF "AINT NO FUN"! Apparently Dam-Funk's been holding onto the cassette (you see kids, cassettes were these things...) version for years and has now decided to bless the interwebs with his audio goodness.

I'm not going to lie, the notalgic rap nerd is my is inappropriately excited to be hearing this, completely with staticy-cassette noise in the background. Even better, it gives us a chance to compare and contrast with the final, album version. It sounds like Dre obviously mixed and mastered the fuck out of the production, added a string line, and Warren G redid his verse. Anyone in RefinedHype Nation hear other differences? (It's like NSFW version of those visual games.)

It's crazy to think that when this was made, no one outside of Compton had ever heard of Snoop Dogg. Started from the bottom and what not I guess. Anyway, you've now fulfilled your daily quota of rap nerdery, you're welcome.

Enjoy...
