Omar x LSD x Tree People, it’s MGMT’s Mindblowing “Cool Song No. 2” Video

So yesterday we had 80’s Drake rushing around Miami in an effort to save his lady friend from some ruthless gangsters. With that in mind, consider this video from MGMT “Hold On We’re Going Home” on LSD, Bath Salts, Opium, and The Wire (just as addicting as any drug). For their "Cool Song 2" video, MGMT puts a familiar face in a not so familiar situation. As their dripping, ambient song staggers along in the background, Michael K. Williams (Omar form The Wire) runs around town killing people and stealing drugs to try and heal his boyfriend who appears to be turning into a tree of some sort…yeah…it’s weird… brace yourself.

My first thought (okay second behind “what in the name of sweet baby Jesus am I watching”) was that even in music videos Michael K. Williams gets typecasted as Omar. In "Boardwalk Empire", he is basically Omar’s grandfather, playing the savvy, ambitious and unapologetic 1920's gangster, Chalky White and here he plays another gay character with a moral reason behind killing and stealing but I digress. As for the visuals itself, this is one of the more interesting videos of the year. I am hesitant to call it one of the best because it just feels weird for the sake of weird, but it is entertaining, visually stimulating, and will definitely get people talking; plus there is Omar so you got that going for you.
