Kanye’s APC Collection Proves He Thinks We’ll Buy Anything

I know you all are excited about our Detox Isn’t Dropping shirts which should hit all Gucci and Wal-Mart stores soon, but they aren’t ready quite yet. If your wardrobe is a little flat and you can't wait, why not kick it up a notch and grab some of Kanye’s threads he cooked up with French designer label, A.P.C. They are stylish and will go with pretty much anything in your wardrobe; you know why, because they are all plain colors. With a name like “Hip-Hop T-Shirt” you might be expecting something crazy, but it is just a solid white shirt. Okay, okay so maybe Kanye decided to tone down the florescent colors and axed all the bells and whistles in order to make clothes for the everyman who just wants to dress as a rapper on a limited budget, pretty noble right? Well the only problem is that the t-shirt will cost you $120 dollars. If you think that’s pricey, then don't even look the hooded sweatshirts, which range from a reasonably priced 250 bucks (for the short sleeve sweatshirt) to $280.00 for the full sleeves; yes just those half sleeves alone cost 15 bucks each.

INSERT KEYWORDS

Collaboration between A.P.C. and Kanye West. Very loose T-shirt in Egyptian cotton. Short sleeves. Ribbing at neckline. Reinforced neckline and shoulders. 'A.P.C. KANYE' silkscreened inside neckline.Washed Egyptian cotton jersey. 100% Cotton.

Pretty fucking sickening if you ask me. I refuse to spend over $100 on any article of clothing and I’m sure many of you are the same way so does Kanye and A.P.C actually think we are dumb enough to buy these clothes when we could get the same thing for 10-20 bucks (you could actually get 13 shirts or 14 sweatshirts at Old Navy for the price of one from Kanye)? Yes, they do. Are they right? Sadly, yes They are. Complex reported that, not only did the shirts sell out but also, “within seconds,” the site had crashed. While its good for a laugh and a quick joke, the truth of the matter is its pretty disgusting. Hip-hop is plagued with materialism and rappers donning all sorts of absurd clothing in order to prove they are the richest and flashiest rapper in the game. Its all well and good, but when the imagine infect the listeners it gets dangerous. I am not going to sit here and tell you how to spend your money, but I think you need to reevaluate something is when you are dropping $280 for a sweatshirt that probably costs 5 bucks to make and standing in line for a pair of $150 sneakers because Lebron told you to; don’t get me started on the people willing to kill someone for the sneakers. If the shirts had some sort of unique quality to them that would make the price justifiable, fine, I’ll still think your dumb but go ahead, but when Kanye can slap his name in the tag and jack up the price by hundreds of dollars and it still sells out, we are in deep trouble.
