With Jehne Aiko, Bun B, Wu-Tang, and ATCQ we have been streamin' like some salmon this week, so what’s one more?

It has been exactly ten years since Jay Z dropped The Black Album, but it feels like just yesterday I was driving around town, windows down, bumpin’ “Lucifer”. Long before the days of iPod connecters and Pandora, CDs were my only means of automotive music and The Black Album was one that stayed in my car rotation for a good 6 years and there was a long while when it was the only one. This album is a modern classic if ever there was one.

We now know Jay Z as the art-dealing, Cuba-vacationing friend of the president; all of that wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for this album. Sure he had some classics before this one, but when hip-hop was changing in the new millennium, "The Black Album" showed us all that Jay wasn’t going anywhere. From “99 Problems” (which even your grandma knows) to “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” this album is full of legendary cuts. I think you will surprise yourself with how many bars you actually know.  I haven’t listened to “My 1st Song” in a hot minute until today, but I still knew it line for line.
