In the summer of 2011, Jay-Z had everyone "Watch The Throne" and come spring 2013 his hardcore fans will be watching "The Great Gatsby." Over the holiday, word got out via Twitter that Mr. Carter is moving on from executive producing video games to scoring major films. A vague tweet from Seal’s baby brother Jeymes Samuel confirmed that he and Jay are part of the team producing the score for the upcoming movie, which is simply "too dope for words."

At this time, the extent of Hov’s contributions to “The Great Gatsby” soundtrack remains unclear, but anyone with a fully functioning brain can infer that The God MC will be composing records inspired by the film. Why else would “No Church In The Wild” serve as a backdrop to Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famed novel in the official trailer? It’s not like he isn’t capable of making period music. 2007’s “American Gangster,” his first concept album, achieved platinum status with over one-million units sold in the U.S., so I’m extremely confident he can do it again.

And according to the L.A. Times, Jigga’s motion picture credits won’t stop there as Roc Nation’s Willow Smith has been tapped to star in the re-make of the musical “Annie,” which is scheduled to begin shooting sometime this year. As an artist he’s managed to snag 14 Grammys (so far), so don’t be surprised if you see Hova chillin’ at the Oscars in 2014.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Isla Fisher, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire, the drama captures the essence of the American Dream post-WWI era in New York during 1922. “The Great Gatsby” hits theaters on May 10.
