They say not to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes—gas station bathrooms and sushi— it is completely OK to do so. However, it is never a good idea to do so in regards to music. Sure the industry is pretty image conscious, specifically in pop music and radio cuts, but if you go around picking and choosing who listen to based on looks, you will miss out on some pretty great music. For example who could have guessed that a fat red-bearded white dude, Action Bronson, could spit? Additionally, who could have guessed that Har Mar Superstar who looks like he isn’t allowed within 500 feet of a school zone was actually a immensely talented, charismatic dude capable of this goodness:



Does he look like the love child of Ron Jeremy and Danny DeVito as the Penguin in Batman? Yes? But does that matter when you have a set of pipes like that? Hell no. I am sucker for vintage throwbacks so "Lady, You Shot Me" hits especially close to home. Between the visuals and his fiery vocals I feel like I was taken back in time. I haven’t had a chance to check out much of his other stuff, but each cut I have heard is vastly different from the ones before it. He is known for his eccentric style and he often loves to joke around. In fact he recently pulled a Bronson to TDE-like joke, telling everybody he was the new guitarist of the band The National, but had to quickly confess he was kidding after everybody (including Spin Magazine) thought he was serious and began shedding tears of joy. Crazy talented and loves to have fun with his music; gotta love it.
