So last night, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) made a splash by announcing they signed Isaiah Rashad to join the label boasting the likes of Kendrick, Ab-Soul, and Schoolboy Q. Well, Isaiah Rashad was only the newest member of the family for about ten hours because It has just been announced that Action Bronson has also been signed to TDE.

As of right now, Twitter rumors are the only source of confirmation, so who knows if, in fact, this is real, but for arguments' sake and because it's just do goddamn fun to think about if you're a rap fan, lets pretend it is. Isaiah makes sense as a signing--he has a nice blend of hazy, cloudiness and edge that really works well with TDE—but I am not so sure about Bronson. Don’t get me wrong, he is talented, but I get a totally different vibe form him than I do when listening to any of the TDE emcees. Considering he is from New York, I sort of pegged Bronson as a Pro Era kinda guy. He has a rugged, throwback sound that is a key part in the New York Renaissance and I thought he might stick to his roots and stay in the Big Apple. This is not to say he will all of the sudden switch styles and forget his roots, but it is interesting that he signed with a West Coast label, which has a distinct style and sound with some West Coast roots.

Also, Actions best quality, his incorporation of humor (both in his videos and his oddly colorful bars) causes me to raise an eyebrow at the signing. TDE has a no-nonsense, revolutionary angle, with the likes of Ab-Soul, so it should be interesting to see how Bronson’s quirkier side fits in with the abrasiveness of TDE. Obviously, Bronson knows himself and his craft better than I do, and he doesn’t seem like the kind of emcee who would just sign some where for the money, but if, true, it will definitely be an interesting addition to the already growing Top Dawg family.

We'll find out if this is true or a joke soon enough, but either way, it's a hell of a "what if"? Would Action be a good fit for TDE?
