Don't look now (actually, do look, looking's the entire point of this post), but far from the spotlight the Funk Volume crew is building one hell of an independent movement. With Hopsin leading the way, SwizZz, Jarren Benton and Dizzy Wright are selling out venues major label artists would struggle to fill.

They're also smart enough to do cool shit like this "Funk Volume 2013" video, which both gives hardcore fans a flick to watch on repeat and serves as a dope introduction to newcomers.

Sweet baby jesus knows that Funk Volume isn't for everyone, but that's exactly the point. Today the key to success if to find something no one else is doing, do that, and ignore everything else. You don't have to like it, but if you're serious about hip-hop, you should study it. Plus, DJ Hoppa stops by for some old school scratching, so yeah, bonus points.
