I'm gonna go ahead and say that Common's "Used to Love H.E.R." is the most copied concept in the hip-hop history. I can't even begin to name all the tracks I've heard that follow the blueprint he laid down almost twenty years ago. ("Hip-Hop" is probably the most prominent recent example).

So when the man re-ups with a "Next Chapter" to his classic track it's kind of like a big deal. Unfortunately, "Next Chapter" is more like a verse and some change instead of a fully realized song, but it feels ridiculous to complain. Salute to one of the best rappers of all-time.

And because I know my rap nerds want to dig a little deeper, that's a Portishead sample, and this will be on the same J. Period mixtape that ridiculously dope Black Thought joint is also on. Fucks yeah.
