Dreams Do Come True: Foreign Alliance Gives K.R.I.T. a Dope Beat for “What You Know About It?” Posted by Danielle Harling on 06/14/13 | Filed under Downloads, Big K.R.I.T.

Although the guy selling beat CD's in the parking lot of your local grocery store might be as talented as a loopy five-year-old, fact of the matter is there really is a ton of true production talent out there. And thanks to VIBE and McDonalds’ Big Mix producer challenge a mere sampling of that talent had the opportunity to work with Mississippi spitter Big K.R.I.T. after winning the competition. The record created by the winning pair, Michigan-based production duo Foreign Allegiance, is titled "What You Know About It" and boasts a vintage, Southern sound.

What I really enjoyed most about Foreign Allegiance's production on the record is that thanks to that throwback, Southern sound it sounds like something K.R.I.T. would have produced, but at the same time there's also a uniqueness to it that I don't think the rapper could have replicated.

It feels hella odd giving props to Mickey D's for anything involving Hip-Hop, but their Big Mix challenge did foster a pretty amazing record. While the DJ Premier's, Mike Will's, Harry Fraud's, and other heavily-established producers of the world are great, it's pretty refreshing knowing that there's unknown talent out there that's equally as dope.
