Adidas clearly has it out for somebody with the release of their Concord Round sneaker concoction. I’m not even sure if you can technically call this a sneaker. It kind of looks like a cross between an Oxford shoe and a ballerina flat with an overwhelmingly big, glittery bow on top. Now this kind of sneaker might fly when it comes to the 12 and under crowd (12 might even be pushing it), but this sneaker is clearly targeted to an adult audience and that’s quite scary. To be honest though the sneaker wouldn’t be half as bad if they made the bow a little smaller or got rid of it all together.
Adidas’ Concord Round sneaker is yet another example of what can go terribly wrong when a sneaker company ventures outside of their comfort zone. And it’s safe to say that all of the major sneaker brands (Nike, Puma, etc.) have released a product(s) that’s left people scratching their heads so it was only a matter of time before Adidas joined the club.
I’ll give Adidas a pass this time because they usually release consistently good products, but please no more bedazzled “sneakers” that look like they’re made for an eight-year-old. Oh, and if you happen to be interested in the Concord Round (I promise I won’t judge you) it can be purchased at
Adidas.com for $70.
