This Proof x J Dilla “The Fizzo” is Dope, My Bad Proof (Listen & Download)

I'll admit, when he was alive I didn't pay much attention to Proof. He was Eminem's hypeman, and I heard he was a pretty good rapper in his own right, but honestly I never bothered to particularly listen to the man's work...until this "Fizzo". Released by Paul Rosenberg on the five-year anniversary of Proof's death, "Fizzo" is a J Dilla produced joint that might not be an instant classic, but is the kind of dope, purely underground shit I didn't know Proof could do. Damn, it almost sounds like some old school Pharcyde - or Slum Village, which would be a more appropriate comparison.

Was Proof always making music like this and I missed it, or is this pretty extraordinary for his catalog? Someone out there let me know before I go hunt down his entire catalog. Either way, love to Dilla and cue the Joni Mitchell: "Don't it always seem to go......"
