Hell Freezes Over, I Defend Swizz Beatz

I never thought I’d see the day when I felt compelled to defend Swizz Beatz, but here we are.

This week Bangladesh decided to fire some shots in Mr. Keys’ direction, saying, “I don’t think Swizz is relevant. I’m keeping it 100. You married a lady that’s poppin’ [Alicia Keys], you know it’ll give you a lot of relevance, but you gotta make hits.”

Irrelevant? Irrelevant? You keep using that word, I don’t think that word means what you think it means. If anything, the problem with Swizz is that he’s too relevant.

I wish he didn’t ruin that Slaughterhouse single, but he did. I wish he wasn’t dropping atrocious freestyles for BET, but he is. I wish he wasn’t attached to every new Alicia Keys track, but he is.

I pray for the day when Swizz Beatz will be irrelevant, but that day has not yet arrived. In the meantime, I highly suggest Bangladesh go back to not getting paid for all those “relevant” beats he’s been making.
