Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” Will Make Wack Rappers Retire (Listen & Download) Posted by Nathan S. on 10/15/12 | Filed under Top Stories, Downloads, Kendrick Lamar

When work that Kendrick Lamar's new "Backseat Freestyle" had come out - via the track's producer Hit-Boy - I was just planning on just adding it as an update to the album snippet post, and then I realized that was fucking stupid because, you know, this shit is better than just about anything else I'd post in its place.

"Backseat Freestyle" doesn't have the same mind-bending lyricism of some of Kendrick's other work, but its his flow here that I'm really digging - I've never heard whatever that super-aggressive style he busts out at around the 2:18 mark. You could give 1,000 rappers this beat and not one of them would come up with this shit...unless of of those 1,000 rappers was named Kendrick Lamar.

I'm a little nervous so consistently hyping Kendrick like this, it's only going to make the inevitable "this isn't as good as #Section80" backlash worse when “good kid, m.A.A.d city” drops, but fuck it. You can't be afraid to say when you think something's really dope, and this shit is really dope. Enjoy...
