Remember last month when Weezy was accused of trampling the American flag when filming his new music video? Don’t worry I barely did either. Well now the story that wasn’t really a story to begin with is back to being a story again because Wayne dropped the visuals for "God Bless Amerkia". Wayne said he didn’t mean to step on the flag and I think I believe him, although who the fuck really cares—I swear people in this country value a piece of cloth (probably made in China) more than their own fellow Americans— but on the other had, the video and song are politically charged, so maybe he meant to; at least the first verse is.

Wayne starts off the song with an interesting concept and, stop the presses, actually has some social commentary. As the beat kicks in, the flag drops and a large group of his fellow Hollygrove natives are standing behind him and the flag on the ground is notably absent; either edited on purpose or it was never meant to be seen in the original (again who gives a shit). The video has some pretty cool shots but the song itself is lackluster and poorly executed. Perhaps I would have believed that Wayne stepped the flag on purpose as a statement or protest, but after the second verse I am not quite sure. If he meant to dance on the flag, it meant he actually thought and planned something to go along with the theme of the song, but as you can tell from the second verse, that might be too much conceptualization for Weezy.

I have a theory that Lil Wayne just goes into the booth, records countless verse and whenever he needs one for a guest spot or something, he grabs one at random and I think he delved in the supply on “God Bless Amerkia” because the second verse has absolutely nothing to do with the theme of this song. He goes from “My country tis of thee, Sweet land of kill em all and let em die” in the first to “Shootin stars in my pocket bitch sit on my rocket” and “Been eating my girl and she’s so sweet got cavities” in the second. It sounds like he forgot he was making a concept song and started rattling of cliché one liners in the middle of the song. But you (Fox News) mean to tell me he planned to dance on the flag as a statement? Let him make one consistent, politically charged song before we call him a social commentator or political mastermind. If this was Lupe you might be onto something but this is the same dude who released a song with Paris Hilton in November, the same month as the election.
