Last year I came across one of the more surprisingly dope rappers I can remember. Let's be honest; when an email from a rapper you've never heard of hits your inbox, and that rapper's from a small town in Canada, the chances of something even non-terrible, let alone dope, are pretty slim.

And yet, RefinedHype Nation was unanimously impressed with Ultra Magnus. But in the six months since that original post I hadn't heard anything from Ultra Magnus; frankly I was starting to assume he'd become a footnote in RefinedHype history. And then this week...another email with a new video, "Orbit".

Frankly, I don't have any real idea how to describe "Orbit". It sounds like Del tha Funky Homosapien, Busta Rhymes and Ghostface Killah had a baby, that baby grew up, developed a drinking problem, and then started rapping over instrumentals from French rappers.

I don't know if Ultra Magnus will ever "blow", I don't know what his lane is, I don't know much....but I do know that he's got one of the more original styles I've heard in a minute. And as I just broke down on the latest podcast, it's originality over everything on these pages.

I'm legitimately fascinated to hear what RefinedHype Nation thinks about "Orbit", have at it people. Hopefully we won't have to wait as long before the next time we hear more...
