This Week in Hype: RIP “Control”, Album Reviews & Rap Coloring Books With Shea Serrano

Posted by Nathan S. on 08/23/13 | Filed under Downloads, This Week in Hype, Podcasts, Shea Serrano

And on the eighth day, God created the "This Week In Hype", but it was so fucking awesome he knew manking couldn't handle an eight day and retracted it, but left the podcast as a sign of his infinite mercy.

For the latest edition, I issue an official moratorium on "Control" talk, run through mini-reviews of the notable albums that have dropped this week, bring on Shea Serrano to talk about his Bun B Rap Coloring Book and much more.

Discussed This Week:

* As always, shout out to RefinedHype Nation member Tino for that dope theme song.
* Another trivia question, another chance to win some fresh gear from the always dope IM King, our official sponsor for August.
* Officially putting an end to the "Control" phenomenon that's taken over hip-hop for the past two weeks.
* Mini-reviews of Earl Sweatshirt's "Doris", A$AP Ferg's "Trap Lord" and Rapsody's "She Got Game". I call one of them the Rap Game Doritos - you'll have to listen to find out which.
* For "10 Minutes With Someone Dope" I bring on the esteemed Shea Serrano, who quickly proves he knows more than me about Jean-Claude Van Damme, talks about how making a rap coloring book with Bun B went from fantasy to reality, that one time he exchanged haiku emails with Riff Raff and much more.
* Salute to Shea Serrano. You should follow him, and cop Bun B's Rap Coloring & Activity Book for everyone you've ever loved ever.
* This week's closing song, ASAP Ferg's "Shabba".

If you subscribe to "This Week in Hype" on iTunes, all the good things in the world will happen to you and only you. Go ahead, find out if I'm lying.

Enjoy...
