Here's the difference between your average rap fan and a citizen of RefinedHype Nation. Your average fan just wants to hear hot music, but a RefinedHype Nation citizen wants to hear the full story behind the music (copyright VH1). Which is exactly why I'm posting this new Strong Arm Steady leak, "Talking to Myself".

If the song sounds familair that's because it was later picked up by Eminem and used as the second track off Em's "Recovery". To backtrack, way back when (2007) SAS was signed to Warner Bros. and working on their debut album, the preliminary tracklist for which is above. The plan was to grab Luda for the track, but then the deal with WB fell apart, they're now with Talib Kweli's Blacksmith camp, but producer Khalil hung onto the beat and Mr. Mathers grabbed it a full four years later for "Recovery".

If you thought that was a cool story, congratulations, you're a rap nerd like me. Strong Arm's version is below Eminem's version for compare and contrast purposes:

Hearing Luda on this would have been glorious. SAS was great. Not sure if I prefer this to Em's version though.

these guys are mos def talented...cant decide whether i like their version or em's better...i do think em did better on the song as a whole and gave the beat emotion, fullness & clarity...so i guess i still prefer em then!

*THAT* is the story about how Kobe came to be on the track. He killed some hooks for Crooked I (iirc back on the Block Obama mixtape). I always wondered how Kobe ended up on that track. Thank you Refined Nation.

Hard to say which I prefer, especially since the Em version if the final but the SAS is still rough. If Luda had actually come on and killed a guest verse I'd have to go with the original, but as is, it's Em in a tight race.
