Senor Kaos, the Atlanta-based rapper and self-proclaimed cultural influence who gave us a look inside his fashion style, is back with video of a live performance of his new track "Automatic Classic (Props Remix)." Backed by Sol Messiah on the turntables, "Automatic Classic" has that mid-90's laid back vibe I dig so much: think a less jazzy Diggable Planets or a one-man version of an old school The Roots performance.
The Refined Take:
1) There's an official video for "Automatic Classic" that I've posted below, but the live version always tells you so much more about an artist. I can't tell you how many times a rapper impressed me on tape, then I saw them live and realized they were mediocre at best. It's no mistake that the dudes who put on the best live shows (The Roots, Common, KRS-ONE) are also the game's elite rappers. Kaos isn't in that elite crowd yet, but the man's clearly got some stage presence.
2) Couldn't be more jealous of the "Kaos" ring he's rocking. I want one so f-ing bad but my name's six letters, so unless I grow an extra couple of fingers I'm out of luck.
3) The true measure or an MC is when the beat drops and they have to go nearly acappella. For Kaos that moment comes 3 minutes into the video, and he performs admirably.
If you're digging "Automatic Classic" and want to hear more from Kaos, download his new project "Walk Softly and Carry a Big Brick" on Rapidshare by clicking here.
And as promised, here's the official version of his "Automatic Classic" video (watch for him rocking the same "Pick Fros Not Fights" shirt he mentioned in our fall fashion preview).
im a big fan of who got the props, so im usually skeptical when someone tries to remake a classic like that, however this is an incredible performance by Kaos. The DJ holds his own too.

Senor Kaos is definitely one to watch out for. Every track I hear from the man is quality.
Man, I really need a shorter nickname so I can rock a finger ring like that.
