Kick In The Door: Freestyling During A Police Standoff (Video)Posted by Lucas Garrison on 08/07/13 | Filed under Videos, General Awesomeness |
In addition to actually being able to create, and rap, a song anywhere near average, rappers who perform in public with ease has always been lost on me. I hate public speaking, and would bug if I actually had to rap a song for anyone. While the pressure of performing in front of people is immense, just imagine freestyling when the police and SWAT are outside your door, ready to bust in at any moment. For Josh Jackson, (not really) better known as Youtube rapper, Adequate Advocate, the former should be no problem because the latter actually happened. The Fort Collins, Colorado teen had the cops called on him by his roommates, and while he waited for them to bust down his door, he decided to hop on YouTube and rhyme a few bars.
Now, obviously, his performance wont be landing him a deal - and he doesn’t seem like a upstanding citizen - but considering the circumstances, I’d say he did pretty damn good job. In addition to getting points in my book for rocking a dope, knitted headband, Jackson’s beat of choice was "Mathematics" from Mos Def, so you know he has some legit taste in music.
At one point, he gets up to turn off the lights so the cops can’t see him and continues rapping. While it is only a minute and seven seconds long, I have a feeling he could have gone for longer if he weren’t rudely interrupted by a flash bang grenade from the police; at least let him get a hook in! Again, is this a dope freestyle? No, but considering the circumstances and how he is actually in trouble with the law (more so than half the rappers who claim to be) it ain’t to shabby. Dude is like a real life version of Pharaohe Monch’s, “Mayor” and for that he should be uh...commended?
