Every night I light approximately four candles, turn on "Illmatic" backwards, and make a sacrifice (ranging from a pair of Adidas without the laces to a New Era hat) to the hip-hop gods hoping that all my devotion will bring about the two things I want most in hip-hop: Jay Electronica’s album and something new from CYNE.  Well, all my hard work unhealthy culti-ish behavior and letters to hip-hop Santa have paid off. No, Jay Electronica's album isn’t out (although foolishly I am still holding out hope) but my other wish is almost coming true; a new CYNE album. With just this loosie, CYNE has made me the happiest rap nerd on the face of the planet. Check out "Mistletoe" below.

First off, for those not familiar with CYNE, you are in for a treat. Without a doubt, CYNE (Cultivating Your New Experience) is one of my favorite hip-hop groups of all-time. The level of depth, passion, originality, and soul in their music is astounding. Everything, from the beats to the lyrics to the flow, is flawless. The whole group is talented, but for me, Cise Starr is the driving force; he is a top five emcee in my book. His flow is crisp and razor sharp and they way his voice sounds really lets his lyrics resonate. He is surgical in how he carves up a beat, delivering each dense bar swiftly, but strong and forcefully. They way he delivers his lines leave them almost branded in your brain and the really unique production doesn’t hurt either. I first heard him on Nujabes’ “Feather” (as if Nujabes didn’t give me enough already) and haven’t looked back since. I implore you to check them out more, and hopefully my favorite song from them “Steady” will help you to do so.

SWEET BABY JESUS IS MY FAVORITE JESUS!!!!!! A NEW ALBUM IS COMING IN MARCH!!!!! Seriously, is there any better feeling than finding out about a new project? I am so fucking happy right now. Praise you hip-hop gods! Oh yeah, and a awesome new single too! Christmas came early for me. if you fucks with CYNE already rejoice with me by dancing naked in the streets, and if you haven’t I am honored to introduce you to them. Come March, we are all in for a treat.
