Meet Aaradhna… Posted by Lucas G. on 12/02/13 | Filed under Non Hip-Hop, Meet, Aaradhna

It the holiday season, so we are in a giving mood here at RefinedHype. For you, that means we will give you some dope new music to listen to! Today’s “Meet…” piece is centered on an artist I found through NPR. I totally forgot to say how thankful I am for NPR because they are constantly on the pulse of the music scene. The don’t descriminate by genre, nor do they cater to an older audience; NPR brings you unbiased looks dopeness and for that we should all be thankful. Anyway, I happened to cone across their post about a young female singer from New Zealand….Lorde. Just kidding, it's actually Aaradhna, who is like Lorde for grown-ups.

Don’t get me wrong, I love “Royals” but, without getting off track, I find her poppy style to be a little lacking in the substance department I know it's different but in the end its just to bubblegummy for me. A powerful soul singer like Aaradhna is definitely more my speed. I love her soulful yet energetic vocals and she nails that throwback vibe. I can never get sick of this kind of music. If you hip-hop heads need some convincing, be sure to check out Common‘s remix of  “Wake Up” (pretty good co-sign huh?) but the rest of you, just check out the playlist below. Also, she has a song called “Lorena Bobbitt”. So let's recap: she can sing, she is from New Zealand, and if you cross her she might cut your dick off.
