Damn, talk about unexpected. Yesterday a long, lost early Kanye West album finally found its way onto the internets, and the result is a fascinating look at Mr. West far before he was Mr. West. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Go-Getter's "World Record Holders" album/mixtape.

But first some backstory - I'll try to make this brief. Back in the day there was a small but growing Chicago music conglomerate called Kon-Man productions who featured a young up-and-coming producer and rapper named Kanye West. The Kon-Man family also included producers like Boogz, Arrowstar and Brian “All Day” Miller, along with Chi-mic mainstays GLC, Mikkey, Rhymefest, Timmy G, Miss Criss, Shayla G and Really Doe.

Out of this roster Kanye recruited GLC, Timmy G and Arrowstar to form a group called the Go Getters, and together the foursome started recoding songs but then the group dissolved and their music was, for all intents and purposes, never heard...until Kon-Man put out what amounted to a "best of" compilation album called "World Record Holders" years ago that featured some Go Getters tracks, along with music from the rest of the Kon family.

"World Record Holders" remained a completely obscure and mostly forgotten album until, thanks to the wonders of the digital age, everyone who even remotely cares will get the chance to listen to it now. Enjoy - it's crazy to hear Ye rhyme in his early days. He sounds oddly like Diddy.
