UPDATE: It's official. After 48 hours and almost 200 votes, the people have spoken....drum roll please....with 38% of the votes....the least respected rapper in the game is Brian Pumper!!! Congratulations Mr. Pumper, you're a disgrace even amongst other disgraces. Coming in a close second was Yung Berg (28%), followed by Lil Mama (20%), with Chingy (8%( and then J-Kwon (4%0 at the bottom (or, really, the top). Thanks to everyone who voted. I'm glad y'all, like me, clearly don't have better things to do with your time.
I threw out this question as an aside on Twitter today and the response was so overwhelming I decided I had to flip into into a full article. And so, with no further delay, the question of the week is: "Who's the Least Respected Rapper in Hip-Hop?" Get to voting below and on Friday I'll reveal the winner! I mean loser.
First some ground rules. This isn't the "Worst" rapper, it's the 'Least Respected". For example, while I don't think Flo-Rida is one anyone's top 5 dead or alive list, the man has been responsible for some of the biggest hits in history, and he deserves at least a sliver of respect for that. Similarly, while some rappers are undeniably awful (I'm looking at you Waka Flocka), they do have dedicated fan bases, so there is, for some mysterious reason, a significant amount of people who give them respect.
By "Least Respected" I'm talking about a rapper whom no one, and I mean no one, takes seriously. A rapper who's the subject of constant jokes, who's so low on the totem pole other crappy rappers don't even want to do collabs because it'd make them look bad by association. Also, I'm only counting rappers who have put out official singles/albums, not dudes who, no matter how bad they might be, have never performed outside their bedrooms (there goes 50 Tyson).
After taking an informal poll on Twitter and some careful consideration, I've narrowed the list down to five finalists:
Yung Berg
Dropped one moderately successful single, "Sexy Lady", and hasn't made a hit since. Has been slapped and robbed more times than a delinquent prostitute. 5 feet tall.
J-Kwon
Had a hit six years ago with "Tipsy". Since then has disappeared so completely when reports surfaced earlier this year that he had gone missing he was accused of staging it as a publicity stunt.
Chingy
Got a big head after a couple hits, left DTP thinking he could do better on his own. Failed miserably, came crawling back to DTP. Actually released an album last week that not even his mother knew about.
Brian Pumper
Porn star turned rapping porn star who's taken shots at everyone from Jay-Z to 50 Cent in desperate attempts for attention. Might actually be retarded. On the plus side, he did win the porn equivalent of an Oscar for his work in "Weapons of Ass Destruction 2."
Lil Mama
Once jumped onstage for alongside Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. Some demanded she apologize. Most wondered who Lil Mama was.
Get to voting right now! I'm fascinated to see how this turns out.
Young Berg was also on "Sexy Can I" which was a hit...J-Kwon's "Hood Hop" has one of the most freestyled over commercial beats of hip ho p history. I don't know if it charted, but i know it was on 106 n park back when was 106 was actually something to care about. But overall i would have to say it's Brian Pumper. NOBODY would consider doing a song with him. But Yung Berg is the least respected rapper to have a hit single.

I'd have to say Brian Pumper, the only reason I know his name is because he banged Montana Fishburne, which is also why I really dislike her. Thanks now I know his name. Admittedly,I was conflicted, Ice Berg just has so much fail following him. I'm almost certain that he'll be the poster boy for failure very soon but hey at least he's not B. Pumper.

Ima say Yung Berg. Any rapper who has made a name for himself by getting slapped around constantly, dissed by Ne-Yo, and who's chain went on a world tour without him really is a clown.

And fuck a hit single. Tag Team had a hit single. Vanilla Ice had a hit single. Afroman had a hit single. Where are they now? Who cares? Same category Yung Berg and J-Kwon for that matter are in.

Im going to have to say lil mama, that shit she did with jay was so disrespectful, if jay even cared he would smother her name and shed never be heard from again.

Well, after day one of voting it's clear that it's going to be Brian Pumper vs. Yung Berg in a race for the bottom.
Personally, I got to go with Berg. Pumper's a travesty, but he's on the fringe's of the game. Berg, on the other hand, got significant radio airplay, so he's fallen much further than Pumper, who never got respect...from anyone.

I voted for Chingy, because he's fallen the furthest. Also, remember that "Take U To Da Movies" rapper Bangs? He frequently lists Chingy as his top influence...That should say enough.
Berg comes a close second, because of his pure stupidity. Five beatdowns and none of them get arrested? I'm sorry, but you REALLY need to stop listening to Cam'ron's "stop snitching" definition.
Mr. Pumper is only rapping because he needs to find a way to pay these countless child support bills...

Man it's got to be Berg, the only news you ever here about cutthroat is when he's getting stomped out. PUMPER! PUMPER! PUMPER! Haaaaa has anyone seen that video, hilarious! He can't be considered a rapper can he?
