Janelle Monae & Erykah Badu Don Their Musical Crowns On “Q.U.E.E.N.” (Listen)

When it comes to a collaboration between crafty songstresses Erykah Badu and Janelle Monae, it's safe to say that you really can't even begin to predict what you're in store for musically. Thankfully, the wait for their much anticipated collab, "Q.U.E.E.N.," came to an end when the song was released yesterday and even after hearing the song there's no way you can put it in a box. It's funky, it's poppy, and there's even a little spoken word/rap thrown into the mix.

I had no idea what to expect the first listen, so it wasn't until the second go around that I really started to enjoy "Q.U.E.E.N." Described by Janelle Monae as a song that will "make you JAM. DANCE. FUNK OUT. and dialogue later,” "Q.U.E.E.N." is exactly that. It's a record you're going to want to get down to thanks to its excessive funkiness, but at the same time there is very much a message.

"Q.U.E.E.N." serves as the first single from Janelle Monae's upcoming "The Electric Lady" album.
