It’s All Good: Homeless Man Masters The Piano Without LessonsPosted by Max Pete on 12/04/13 | Filed under Opinion, Its All Good |

These days, all you see and hear on the news is about which country is on the brink of war, the economic crisis and other information that drives fear into your everyday life. I’m tired of hearing nothing but bad news, that’s why I decided to write about positive and inspiring stories that are overlooked by the mainstream media in "It's All Good". This week....
>David Allen Walsh, a 50-year-old Vancouver homeless man, says he has never taken a music lesson in his life and that he can’t read music, but his impromptu piano playing make it seem like he is a classically trained pianist.
David has been visiting Second Hand Solutions, a thrift store and coffee shop, two times a month for the past year, according to KATU. Whenever he is there, he captivates the shoppers with his piano playing. Last week, KATU filed David’s playing and the emotional reaction of one listener, James Maynard.
"He started to play, and I choked on my coffee and it started coming out of my nose,"Maynard later told ABC News. "I had tears coming to my eyes when I saw his fingers go down one end of the piano to the other."
David, who told KATU, says he has been homeless since six years old, sometimes uploads his music to YouTube (). He credits God for his piano playing abilities. "I can't be selfish because anything that I get, God's given," he told the station.
David doesn’t look for anything in return, he just enjoys connecting with people. "When someone is genuinely here and genuinely moved and they reach out and give you a hug," Welsh told KATU, "I weep, too."
It’s awesome seeing music connect people that normally wouldn’t cross paths. A lot of people including myself have a stigma of homeless people, and it is nice to see his musical talent break down barriers and make a connection with other people even if it is for a few moments.
