I've made it a mission on RefinedHype to involve RefinedHype Nation in the site as much as possible. Tweet me a dope article idea and I'll use it. Send me an email and I might just read it on the podcast. Help come up with a "Detox Isn't Dropping" shirt and I'll make it. At the risk of sounding corny, I really do feel like this is a community.

But when I think of how to continue to grow this community, I realize the one thing we're really lacking is that same community outside of the interwebs. So I've throw this out before, but now I'm seriously considering it. If I started holding monthly RefinedHype Drink Ups, who would come drink with me? Seriously. I'd find a dope spot, get a dope DJ, I'd buy anyone who showed up a beer (one beer, this rap blog money isn't that good) , and we'd just kick it, drink and rap nerd out. I've had several people tell me I'm totally not a complete d-bag in person, you could find out if they're right.

The first one would be in L.A. because, you know, that's where I live. But I travel a pretty decent amount, and if I came to your city we could easily do a Drink Up there as well. (Unless you live in Davenport, Iowa. Fuck Davenport.) And now that I think about it, there's no real reason I even have to be there, this site is about much more than me. If five of y'all live in Boston and want to start doing RefinedHype Drinks Ups on your own, why the fuck not? I'd be happy to promote it on the site.

Has another site done this? I have no idea. Would it work? Who fucking knows. But if enough people tell me they'd be down, I'll make it happen. New rules and whatnot. And not like RefinedHype Nation ever has a problem with honesty, but don't lie to me people. If this is a terrible idea let me know. Frankly that honesty is the least you could give me in exchange for Kate Upton in a wet t-shirt.

And while I hate to end on a down note, as long as I'm here, I wanted to make sure I threw this in. I know I joke a lot about drinking on this site and on Twitter, but I have a lot of family and friends in recovery, and alcoholism destroys lives. I always drink responsibly, and I'd expect, and demand, that anyone who showed up to a Drink Up (if I started doing them) would do the same.
