When it comes to what I wear on my feet, I generally don’t like to have what everyone else has. I like to think of my kicks as an expensive piece of artwork. So when I look for a new pair of sneakers to add to my growing collection, the color ways and fabric really have to grab my attention – that’s where I feel the artistic vision comes in to play. And that’s how I feel about Dutch designer Diversitile’s “Child’s Play 2” Nike Dunk concept.

Inspired by the 1988 horror film that spawned five successful franchises (while creating the scariest doll to ever hit the toy industry), the sneakers pay homage to the movie’s infamous Chucky character. This unique creation plays off of the serial killer’s physical appearance by replicating it conceptually to create one hell of a shoe. Using materials seen on The Good Guys Doll himself, it features an orange outsole and tongue to match Chucky’s hair, while the sneaker’s toe box represents his cryptic face that is covered in stitches. The rest of the sneaker reproduces Chucky’s outfit as his stripped shirt is used as mid panels and blue denim covers the back heel and lace panels, adorned with pockets and red buttons for an authentic look.

To make the pair even more of a standout, these re-released “Child’s Play” Dunks now feature knife silhouettes on the toe side panels and a blood splattered Nike Swoosh that come packaged in a shoe box resembling the doll’s original parcel. All that’s missing are 3D eyeballs on the front of the tongue. Okay, so my imagination might be getting carried away.

Still, these designers are giving a new take on some old classics. Fine art definitely comes at a price though, so be prepared to spend $550+ if you can still find a pair of these sold out customs. And if you’re interested in getting your own design, feel free to holla at Diversitile here.
