I won't even begin to pretend that I've known about Chance the Rapper since way back when. In truth, the only time he really even popped up on my radar was when Andrew Barber said he was the next big thing out of Chicago on the podcast. It was only last month that I finally watched a video of his, and then I only finally downloaded "10 Days" last week.

But in the course of listening to "10 Days" I discovered what so many before me already had: the dude can really rap, he's got an original sound, and he's refreshingly allergic to swag. In fact, I became "10 Days' has been really all I've wanted to listen to over the last few days, I'm obsessed with "Long Time" and "Brain Cells" in particular, and so by the time Tuesday morning I had fully joined the chorus of people praying his new tape, "Acid Rap" would finally drop.

Anytime this many people, seemingly overnight, get this excited about a mixtape, there's going to be a backlash. It's probably already begun for Chance, and so I'm going to do my best to pump my brakes. (This is Refinedhype after all.) But I will say this: "Acid Rap" is going to be the only thing I listen to for the next 24 hours, and if it's as good as I hope, this should prove to be a very good day in hip-hop.
